Model Summary:

There are 4 models available to meet your budget, signal amplification, and distribution requirements.

All units are fully compatible with existing and future advanced cable services such as HDTV, Digital, Broadband Internet, VOIP, and all recording & playback technologies (TIVO, PVR, etc.)

EDA 2100; 1 port amplifier; + 15dB gain
BUY NOW

The single port model provides the simplest connection requirement. Put this in at the ‘drop’ and simply connect to your existing wiring set-up. This unit will ensure a much stronger signal to overcome the deterioration caused by the splitters etc. in your existing wiring set-up.

EDA 2400; 4 port amplifier; + 7dB gain per port BUY NOW

This unit is a popular solution if you have 4 or less devices to connect. It is intended to replace the existing splitters in your home. The connection is slightly more challenging, and you'll need to ensure that all the ‘cable runs’ originate at the drop.

EDA 2800; 8 port amplifier; +4dB gain per port
BUY NOW

With more ports, you can connect up to 8 separate devices, and is intended to replace the existing splitter(s) in your home. As per the 4 port – the connection is again slightly more challenging – and it’s best to ensure that all the ‘cable runs’ originate at the drop.

EDA FTO8100; 8 port amplifier; +3dB gain per port; 0 dB ‘Active Return’ BUY NOW

This unit is ideal for Cable Internet and/or Digital TV applications because of the 0dB ‘Active Return’ feature – no signal loss on the return path. Also, the ‘Flat-Top’ offers a configuration with all F connectors on the bottom edge of the amplifier, facing down. This makes it a better choice if space is limited in your installation area.

I Have Digital Cable

You can select any of the models – it really depends on how many TVs you currently have, or plan to have.

However, the FT08100 model does have the 0dB ‘Active return’ feature which will ensure the signal going back to the cable company is the same strength as the one the set-top box generates. This will ensure smooth operation of your digital TV service.

The best choice is the FT08100 model – this is the best all-in-one approach to both signal amplification and interactive services.

However, to obtain the purest signal amplification, use the following chart:

We recommend that the Internet connection be wired independent of the DROPAmp unit.

Things to consider:

Are you comfortable connecting multiple cable leads?

If yes, choose any unit;
If no, you may want to look at the 1-port unit: this is the simplest device to connect

How many cable runs do you have?

Even if you have 2 or 3 TVs today, your home may in fact be wired to accommodate many more.
If you think your needs will go beyond 4 outlets, you should look at the 8 port models.

How many devices are connected today? Do they all originate at the ‘drop’?

You are encouraged to examine your existing configuration – see how many and where all the wires go!
Connecting a DROPAmp is a great opportunity to clean-up your cable configuration.

Do you have Internet or Digital TV?

While all the units are fully compatible with the Internet & Digital TV wiring requirements, the FT08100 is specifically designed to ensure there is no signal loss on the ‘return path’, making this unit the best choice if you have either of these services.

What about VoIP?

VoIP is basically an off-shoot of your Internet connection.

Anything you do to the Internet connection will affect your VoIP service, so the above guidelines apply.

What about HDTV, TIVO, PVR’s etc.?

These run off the signal you receive from the cable network. When you amplify the inbound cable signal, the signal delivered to your TV or recording device will be improved.
